The members of the Technical Assistance Team for the HD-led project Support Programme for Infrastructure Sector Strategies and Alternative Financing (SISSAF) and the Project Director Ivan Davidov presented at the 5th edition of the Beirut Energy Forum, 17-19 September 2014, Beirut, Lebanon.
The Beirut Energy Forum (BEF) is one of the most distinguished events in the Arab World. It is organised on a yearly basis (since 2010) under the patronage of the Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water. It is a major event for pushing forward developments in the energy sector: energy efficiency, renewable energy and green buildings. The 5th BEF event attracted more than 850 delegates.
During the official opening of the Exhibition Area, a Special Session on Aligning Donors’ Efforts for the Benefit of the Electricity Sector was organised by the EU-funded SISSAF project. The panel was moderated by: Ms Christina Abi Haidar, Senior Energy Expert and Legal Consultant of the SISSAF project.
A special session ‘’Aligning Donors’ Efforts for the Benefit of the Electricity Sector’’, organised by the SISSAF project was the very first panel to be held at the Beirut Energy Forum. During the SISSAF session, the SISSAF Energy Sector Coordination Group was launched. This is a platform for exchange that will undoubtedly contribute to an improved and more efficient governance of the sector.
The panel was opened by an opening note by H.E. Mr Arthur Nazarian, Minister of Energy and Water of Lebanon, and an address by Mr Marcello Mori, Minister Counsellor at the European Union Delegation to Lebanon, Italy. The panel was moderated by Ms Christina Abi Haidar, Senior Energy Expert of the SISSAF project. Mr Ivan Davidov, SISSAF Project Director and Joint Head of Implementation of Human Dynamics, introduced the SISSAF project with focus on aligning donor’s activities.
The other discussion panelists were Mr Kamal Hayek, Head of the Board, Director General of Electricité du Liban (EDL); Mrs Nada Boustany, Advisor to the Minister, Ministry of Energy and Water; Mr Cyril Dewaleyne, Program Manager for Infrastructure, Water and Energy, Sustainable Development Section, EUD to Lebanon; Dr Raymond Ghajar, Advisor to the Minister of Energy and Water (MEW), Professor at the Lebanese American University (LAU).
