Just a few weeks after the busy month of May that saw four events in one week with more than 120 participants, a workshop on “Priority Greenhouse Gas Emission and Removal Categories” was held in Skopje mid-June 2018. Bearing in mind that the project organises very technical and specialised events on the implemenytation of the Paris Agreement, the event was preceded by a webinar the week before on the same topic.
The participants – 30 national experts – met guest speakers from Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Spain and the UK. The discussions opened the door for further advancement on legislation on LULUCF (Land use, land-use change, and forestry) and the inventory tools for calculation of emissions in the region.
RIPAP has also taken the necessary steps to assist Montenegro in their Climate protection law elaboration. They submitted a request to our team to help the local administration, which is pending approval by the Commission.
RIPAP is also expecting the approval of some budgetary allocations, allowing our team to finalise all activities by the end of the project in the month of October. Two more newsletters and two more workshops, aside from the one in Skopje on the 4th of July, are expected by the end of the project.
