The project will now run to June 2020 and will enable six additional districts (encompassing an additional 1 539 Village Councils) to participate in the CDLD. The Local Government Departments will be much more involved in CDLD implementation at both the provincial and district level. Through the extension, we will put in place a fiscal and regulatory framework for CDLD, where local communities are in charge of executing local development/service delivery initiatives; building the capacity of the relevant public sector entities and functionaries at the district level of operationalise CDLD; and providing an enabling environment for community-based organisations to access public funds earmarked for CDLD initiatives.
