Driven by the motto of the European Union in Ukraine ’Moving Forward Together’, the EU-FINREG Project held a two-day seminar for employees of Ukraine’s National Commission for Securities and Stock Markets in its Regional Centre in Kharkiv (10-11 June,2019).
This was the second regional event in a series of capacity building efforts, aimed to strengthen knowledge and understanding of capital markets’ functioning among the non-banking professionals from the NCSSM.

Presentations initiated further interest in topics presented, which combined with deep understanding of the capital market and its structure among attendees, turned in vivid exchange of the opinions, questions and answers.
Corporate governance, as concept of honoring the interests of various groups within the corporations, was explained by Milko Štimac, EU-FINREG Key Expert. This subject was further explained through takeover principles and one case study. Dr. Štimac also introduced commodity derivatives trading, giving a couple of examples for options contracts.
On the second day, Oksana Krasnokutskaya, EU-FINREG National Expert, presented the newly adopted provisions for prospectus and information dissemination in Ukraine. A Prospectus is a formal written offer to sell bonds, as its publication is required to make a public offer of securities. Prospectus include general and financial information, covering the issuer consistent with the legislative requirements of the country of public offering. *
“The implementation of new mechanisms for financial institutions, such as derivatives or option contracts, is a very pressing topic. This training provides systemic approach that enables us to acquire new skills. The next round of training seminars on capital markets is planned for September 2019 early autumn.
