Improvement of Working Environment in Private and Privatised Enterprises

The overriding principle maintained in the project strategy provided the Ministry of Welfare with a strategy and structure to facilitate the improvement of the working environment in private and privatised Enterprises.

• To continue industrial and enterprise restructuring for achieving better working conditions and sound labour relations between representatives of share holders/owners, employers, employees and, indirectly, promote foreign investment;
• To develop structures to deal with satisfying the outstanding claims of employees in the event of insolvency of their employer in order to ensure social peace and well-being;
• Ensure implementation and enforcement of the EU directives in the field of industrial equipment and protective systems to achieve a common understanding of new approach directives between enterprises, notified bodies and authorities;
• Strengthen government key inspection services (State Labour Inspectorate) and their related regulatory functions in view of the implementation of the Acquis concerning health and safety at work, industrial relations and free movement of goods in restructured enterprises.
