Harmonisation of Standards for Food Products - Support to the Ministry

The project covered a number of areas such as establishment and implementation of the organisation and methodology to be used in implementing EU legislation, strategy of implementation for measures in the food and agricultural Aquis, ministry capacity building as well as approximation of 800 harmonisation measures in the agricultural and food areas.

• Based on the experience gained by the newest EU member States, to organise and undertake a legal translation in Romanian of the 94 horizontal and vertical EU food directives listed in the White Paper on the Preparation of the Associated Countries of Central Europe for Integration in the Inner Market of the Union;
• To support the Romanian administration, mainly the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) in establishing and implementing an organisation and a methodology (including the provision of suitable tools) to approximate the Romanian legislation on foodstuffs with the corresponding EU legislation;
• To select, organise and equip a number of laboratories, in condition to carry out the tests on foodstuffs required by the EU legislation.
