Development of a Strategy for Police especially Border Police Kosovo

In the context of improving Kosovo security, the project’s specific objectives included:
• Supporting UNMIK Police in their work to design a border management strategy for the border police element of the KPS which reflected the projected development of the organisation;
• Conducting an in-depth training needs analysis for the border police element of the KPS and providing a clear statement of requirements, guidelines, curricula and delivery methodology;
• Through a technical feasibility study, providing the authorities in the police and justice sector with a clearly identifiable check-list of equipment necessary to create a fully-integrated vertical and horizontal communications and information management system;
• Preparing preliminary technical specifications for the construction of border police stations and ensuring their compliance with the appropriate EU regulations for tender, procurement and the provision of works;
• Carrying out a review of existing legislation governing all aspects of border/boundary management legislation and the associated legislation relating to the fight against organised crime with a view to recommending greater harmonisation with EU legislation.
