Project Description:
The regional action aiming at protecting fresh water and marine environments in the wider Black Sea region consists of 2 projects: 'Environmental protection of international river basins' and 'Environmental protection ofthe Black Sea'.
The main purpose of the 'Environmental protection of the Black Sea' project is to improve the protection of the Black Sea environment.
The project will support the following:
- improved availability and quality of data on the chemical and biological status of the Black Sea;
- increased number and size of protected areas in the Black Sea and increased degree of protection;
- improvements in sustainable use of coastal zones.
These project purposes will be pursued with a view to addressing the interlinked issues related to protection of fresh water and marine environments in the wider Black Sea region.
