The Human Dynamics Team will work in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the development of new accreditation schemes. The project will start in September 2011 and last 15 months.

With the overall objective of enhancing the integration of the markets of BiH with those of the EU through further development of Quality Infrastructure in line with the provisions of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, and to create an enabling environment for the BiH industries and manufacturers to improve their trade and industrial relations with the EU and international markets this project is intended to develop new accreditation schemes for conformity assessment bodies (CAB's) in the areas of accreditation of medical laboratory, product certification, quality and environmental management systems, personnel certification and training of personnel for their realisation.

The project envisions 4 results to be achieved:

  • New Accreditation Schemes Developed: The organisation of the Institute for Accreditation of BiH (BATA) adapted and staffed to meet needs for new accreditation schemes, potential Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABS) identified, staff and external assessors trained to meet requirements.
  • Accreditation of CABs Prepared: BATA Publication of Documents for new Accreditation Schemes, CABS Formal Application Procedure established, BATA review procedure of CAB's information established, BATA to review procedure of capacity for assessment established. First Accreditations of each of the 4 new schemes prepared.
  • Trained personnel for implementation of new accreditation schemes: BATA staff and assessors trained in the areas medical laboratories, quality and environmental management systems and personnel certification. Auditor skills in the areas of quality and environmental management achieved for 2 BATA staff. On-site Experience in Accreditation system of EC Accreditation body with EA MLA signatory status gained for BATA staff. Increased awareness of BATA Accreditation achieved for BiH CABs and stakeholders
  • BATA's IT operational system updated. BATA's IT upgraded for management of new Accreditation Systems BATA Websites upgraded in accordance with project outputs (PTs, Training Centre, etc.)
  • At least three Proficiency Testing schemes conducted: Needs for PTs assessed Availability of PTs established, Awareness for participation in PTs established, expertise in conduction of PTs established, expertise in assessment of PTs established, plan for Continuation of PTs established
