The global objective of this project is to consolidate the Rule of Law in compliance with the guidelines of the sectoral policy of justice. The specific objective is to assist effectively and efficiently the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights in the implementation of the project PAREDA (technical management unit (TMU)). The project aims at implementing the achievements of the PAED project to support the rule of law in the Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire and Dolisie courts in order to improve the workings of the courts and quality of legal services, detention conditions and civil society organisations’ capacities, particularly by promoting Legal Access and Good Governance.
The Project will be implemented under three components:
- Component 1: Strengthening capacities and improving the effectiveness of legal institutions - the quality of services in the Courts and Tribunals in the locations concerned are improved and more efficient and transparent.
- Component 2: Improvement of prison conditions – the conditions of detention and the legal protection of detainees in the two principal arrest houses in the country and in other detention facilities are improved to respect human dignity.
- Component 3: Strengthening of associations promoting the Rule of Law and Access to Justice and Good Governance – information and access to justice for vulnerable persons are facilitated and supported by the "associations of legal services" and other Civil Society Organisations active in the field of Human Rights and Good Governance.
