Sub-Regional Workshop - Capacity Building on compliance with environmental legislation

This workshop was the seventh module in a series of multi-country workshops organised by our team supporting ECAN.

A sub-regional Workshop on Capacity Building on compliance with environmental legislation was organised in Belgrade, Serbia on 12-14 April 2016, welcoming participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, fYR of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. The workshop was the 7th module in the series of the multi-country workshops to be held in each of the eight beneficiary countries.

The general objective of the workshop was to increase the effectiveness of the inspection bodies and promoting compliance with environmental requirements by providing capacity building regarding compliance with environmental legislation through a better understanding of the implementation issues and the identification of targeted solutions (training of inspectors and permit writers in cooperation with law drafters and policy makers).​

On the third day of the workshop, participants visited an oil refinery in Pancevo, part of NIS Gazprom Neft, a Serbian Oil Industry, one of the biggest industrial operator in the country, and one of the largest energy companies in South-east Europe.
