Our Economics Department provides expertise to ministries of finance and economy, central banks, government agencies and other public and private institutions, with an aim to improve their institutional capacity and efficiency.
We work on all aspects of public expenditure management, from budgetary procedures, medium-term budget framework (MTBF) and public investment programmes (PIP), to budget execution and control. In order to set the appropriate macroeconomic and fiscal policy framework for the budget, we assist governments and central banks to develop and implement macroeconomic models and other econometric tools.
We provide support to Ministries of Finance to efficiently fulfil all their essential functions, including cash management and treasury, management of public debt and government assets, financial information systems, financial reporting. We provide expertise in tax and customs legislation and organisation, with a special focus on approximating tax and customs systems with international standards and acquis communautaire.
We advise central and local governments on fiscal decentralisation, regional and SME policy, preparation for implementing EU programmes and Structural Funds. In all these areas our experts draft legislation, train people, advise on organisational improvements and upgrade IT systems.
